                    역사는 스스로를 지킬 의지도, 체제에 대한 철학도 없는 나라가 맞이한 결말을 똑똑히 기록하고 있다. 임진왜란 직전, 안일한 평화론에 눈이 멀어 전란의 징후를 외면했던 조선 조정의 우를 오늘날 다시 범하고 있는 것은 아닌가 싶다. ‘평화’라는 허울 좋은 수식어 아래 안보의 기둥들이 하나둘 무너져 내리고 있다.

                    ‘실용 외교’라는 이름으로 포장된 중국의 눈치를 보는 태도는 가치와 체제를 공유하지 않는 세력에게 주권의 여백을 내어주는 무장해제와 다름없다. 홍콩의 민주주의가 어떻게 파괴되었는지, 티베트가 어떻게 흡수되었는지 똑똑히 목도하고서도 상호주의조차 적용되지 않는 지방선거 투표권을 중국 영주권자에게 내어주는 모순을 방치하고 있다.

                    실질적인 안보 및 자산 침투는 이미 국토와 주거 현장 구석구석에서 구체적 숫자로 증명되고 있다. 국토교통부가 발표한 2025년 말 기준 통계에 따르면 제주도 내 외국인 소유 토지는 2,191만㎡를 넘어서며 섬 전체 면적의 1.18%를 차지한다. 이 중 40%가 넘는 1,000만㎡ 가까운 토지가 중국인 소유다. 마라도 면적의 수십 배에 달하는 제주 땅이 중국 자본에 넘어가는 동안, 국방이나 안보에 위험이 될 수 있는 주요 지역조차 제대로 된 제약 없이 외세의 손에 맡겨졌다.

                    주택 시장의 자산 침투는 더욱 심각하다. 국토교통부의 2025년 말 통계 기준, 전국 외국인 소유 주택 10만 8,000여 가구 중 무려 56.8%를 중국 국적자가 차지하며 과반을 독점하고 있다. 이들의 매입세는 수도권 주요 지역으로 빠르게 확산 중이다. 자본과 인력을 동원해 영토와 실생활 주거 자산을 공격적으로 잠식해 들어오는 상황에서, 국가 안보와 국익을 운운하는 것은 한가한 기만에 가깝다.

                    심지어 최근에는 주한미군 기지 일대를 촬영하고 도청하며 핵심 안보 정보를 본국으로 넘긴 중국인 2명이 체포되는 충격적인 사건까지 벌어졌다. 국가의 핵심 안보 현장이 중국 간첩의 놀이터로 전락했음을 보여주는 단적인 예다. 그럼에도 중국 간첩의 스파이 행위를 처벌할 수 있도록 간첩죄 적용 대상을 '적국'에서 '외국'으로 확대하는 형법 개정안은 더불어민주당의 반대로 처리되지 못하고 있다. 그 결과 중국 간첩들이 대한민국 땅에서 아무런 법적 제약 없이 활개를 치고 다니는 무방비 상태가 이어지고 있다.

                    더욱이 외교·안보 라인의 무분별한 비밀 발설과 정보 관리 실패는 피로 맺어진 한미동맹의 신뢰에 치명적인 균열을 냈다. 최고 수준의 대북 핵심 정보 공유가 제한되는 초유의 안보 공백을 자초하고서도 이를 '관리 가능한 사안'으로 포장하는 것은 국민의 눈과 귀를 가리는 눈속임일 뿐이다. 동맹의 신뢰와 안보 우산을 무너뜨리면서 얻어낸 '실용'이란 과연 누구를 위한 실용인가.

                    더욱 참담한 것은 나라를 지키는 군의 뿌리가 내부에서부터 와해되고 있다는 점이다. 국가 안보의 허리인 초급·중견 간부들이 열악한 처우와 사기 저하를 견디지 못해 군을 떠나고 있다. 간부 지원율은 사상 최저치로 떨어졌다. 여기에 안보 울타리 역할을 하던 방첩사마저 무력화되면서 간첩과 안보 위협 세력을 적발하는 기능은 크게 후퇴했다. 한미연합방위태세의 근간이 흔들리는 상황에서 탁상공론식 지표 몇 개로 '첨단 자주국방'을 운운하는 것은 허황된 말에 불과하다. 아무리 첨단 무기 체계가 존재한들, 이를 운용할 사람과 방첩망, 단단한 안보관이 빠져나간 자리는 결국 텅 빈 껍데기일 뿐이다.

                    안보는 타협이나 실험의 대상이 될 수 없다. 가치 외교의 기본을 저버린 유화책과 허울뿐인 평화론은 국가를 구하는 것이 아니라 가장 위험한 길로 몰아넣을 뿐이다. 국가 주권의 엄중함을 깨닫지 못하고 영토·주택 자산의 잠식과 구멍 뚫린 정보망, 법적 미비와 군의 무력화를 방치한다면, 우리가 마주할 미래는 역사 속 패망의 기록과 다르지 않을 것이다. 지금 필요한 것은 달콤한 환상이 아니라, 스스로를 지키겠다는 냉혹한 현실 인식과 강력한 안보적 결단이다.

                    History clearly records the fate of nations that lacked the will to defend themselves and held no firm philosophy regarding their own system. Are we not repeating the folly of the Joseon court, which was blinded by complacent peace rhetoric right before the Imjin War and ignored the signs of impending conflict? Under the sweet-sounding mantle of 'peace,' the pillars of our national security are crumbling one by one.

                    The attitude of eyeing China's reaction—packaged under the name of 'pragmatic diplomacy'—is nothing short of disarmament, yielding sovereignty to a force that does not share our values or system. Even after witnessing firsthand how democracy was destroyed in Hong Kong and how Tibet was absorbed, we remain passive toward the absurdity of granting local election voting rights to Chinese permanent residents without applying the principle of reciprocity.

                    Substantive penetration into our security and national assets is already proven in concrete figures across our land and residential areas. According to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport statistics as of the end of 2025, land owned by foreigners in Jeju Province exceeded 21.91 million square meters, accounting for 1.18% of the island's total area. Of this, nearly 10 million square meters—more than 40%—is owned by Chinese nationals. While Jeju land equivalent to dozens of times the area of Marado has passed into Chinese hands, key areas critical to defense and national security have been left to foreign hands without proper restrictions.

                    Penetration into the residential property market is even more serious. According to the same late-2025 statistics, Chinese nationals accounted for 56.8% of the 108,000 foreign-owned housing units nationwide, monopolizing a clear majority. Their buying spree is spreading rapidly into major areas of the Seoul metropolitan region. In a situation where capital and manpower are aggressively encroaching upon our territory and daily living assets, talking about national security and national interest is little more than idle deception.

                    Recently, a shocking incident occurred where two Chinese nationals were arrested for photographing and wiretapping around U.S. military bases in Korea and transmitting core security intelligence to their home country. This is a stark example showing that the nation's key security sites have turned into a playground for Chinese spies. Nevertheless, the revision to the Criminal Act—which expands the application of espionage charges from an 'enemy state' to 'foreign countries' so that foreign espionage can be punished—remains unpassed due to opposition from the Democratic Party of Korea. As a result, a state of legal defenselessness persists, allowing Chinese spies to operate freely on South Korean soil without legal hindrance.

                    Furthermore, reckless leaks of secrets and information management failures within the foreign affairs and security line have inflicted critical cracks on the trust of the blood-forged ROK-U.S. alliance. Self-inflicting an unprecedented security vacuum where top-level intelligence sharing regarding North Korea is restricted, and then packaging it as a 'manageable matter,' is merely deception aimed at hoodwinking the public. Who is this 'pragmatism' really for if it collapses the trust of our alliance and shatters our security umbrella?

                    Even more tragic is that the foundation of the military tasked with protecting the nation is collapsing from within. Junior and mid-level officers, who form the backbone of national defense on the ground, are leaving the military, unable to endure poor treatment and declining morale. Recruitment rates for officers have plummeted to all-time lows. On top of this, as the Defense Counterintelligence Command—which served as our security shield—has been neutralized, the capacity to detect spies and security threats has significantly regressed. In a situation where the bedrock of the ROK-U.S. combined defense posture is shaking, talking about 'advanced self-reliant defense' with a few armchair indicators is nothing more than hollow talk. No matter how advanced the weapon systems are, any space lacking the personnel to operate them, counterintelligence networks, and a solid security mindset is ultimately a hollow shell.

                    Security can never be an object of compromise or experimentation. Appeasement policies that abandon the basics of value-based diplomacy and hollow peace rhetoric do not save a nation; they push it onto the most dangerous path. If we fail to realize the gravity of national sovereignty and allow the encroachment of our territorial and residential assets, compromised intelligence networks, legal loopholes, and the neutralization of our military to go unchecked, the future we face will be no different from the records of ruin throughout history. What is needed now is not sweet illusions, but a cold-eyed awareness of reality and a firm commitment to defend ourselves.

                    오늘 대한민국은 1950년 6.25 전쟁 직전의 참혹했던 역사적 상흔을 다시금 떠올리게 하는 미증유의 위기 앞에 서 있다. 국가의 생존을 담보하는 안보 기틀은 뿌리째 흔들리고 있으며, 국민의 삶을 떠받치던 자유민주주의와 시장경제의 축은 거센 폭주 아래 급격히 무너져 내리고 있다.

 

평화 구걸이 불러온 안보 해체와 동맹의 균열

                    ‘평화’라는 허울 좋은 명분 아래 전방의 경계 태세는 무력화되었고, 대간첩 작전과 국가 기밀 수호의 핵심 보루인 방첩 기능은 해체 절차를 밟으며 스스로 무장해제를 단행하고 있다. 북한이 38선 일대의 도로를 정비하고 러시아와의 밀착을 통해 첨단 무기 체계와 항공 우주 기술을 고도화하는 동안, 군 수뇌부는 ‘주적’이라는 당연한 명칭조차 부르지 못하는 지경에 이르렀다.

                    더욱 심각한 것은 대한민국 안보의 핵심 축인 한미동맹의 균열이다. 당국자들의 무책임한 언행으로 최고 우방국과의 핵심 대북 정보 공유마저 차단되는 초유의 사태가 벌어졌음에도, 현 정권은 동맹 고도화라는 허구적 수식어로 국민의 눈과 귀를 가리고 있다. 군의 허리인 초급·중견 간부들이 연이어 부대를 떠나고 정신 전력이 해체되는 상황에서, 이대로 가다간 적의 기습 도발 앞에 나라가 여지없이 무너질 수밖에 없다.

 

시장 파괴와 거주·이전의 자유 박탈

                    안보의 위기는 곧바로 체제의 위기로 이어지고 있다. 정부가 쏟아내는 입법과 정책들은 공정과 개혁이라는 탈을 썼을 뿐, 실상은 개인의 자유와 재산권을 정죄하는 반(反)헌법적 권력 남용에 불과하다.

                    부동산 시장을 정상화한다며 내놓은 가혹한 대출 규제와 거래 제약은 국민이 원하는 곳에 가서 살 수 있는 ‘거주·이전의 자유’를 철저히 파괴했다. 실거주자조차 정부의 허가를 받아야 집을 구하고 이사를 해야 하는 기괴한 통제 사회가 현실화된 것이다. 잘못된 과세와 규제 폭탄을 견디지 못한 수천 개의 기업이 지난 2년간 한국을 떠났고, 원화 가치가 폭락하며 국가 경제의 기초 체력은 고갈되고 있다.

 

삼권분립의 붕괴와 홍콩의 전철을 밟는 대한민국

                    더욱 분노스러운 것은 법치주의와 삼권분립의 무력화다. 입법부는 행정부를 압박하고 사법부의 독립성을 파괴하며, 정권의 입맛에 맞지 않는 세력을 압살하는 법적 독재를 서슴지 않고 있다. 권력을 견제해야 할 언론마저 정권의 나팔수로 전락하여 거짓과 편향된 정보만을 전하고 있다.

                    자유와 법치가 서서히 통제 아래 침식당했던 홍콩의 전철을 대한민국이 그대로 밟아가고 있다. 공산주의·사회주의적 통제 정책이 법제화되는 이 상황을 방관한다면, 우리 아이들에게 물려줄 자유대한민국의 미래는 사라지고 말 것이다.

 

경각심을 넘어 체제 수호를 위한 강력한 행동으로

                    역사는 증명한다. 강력한 힘과 철저한 안보관이 뒷받침되지 않은 평화는 거짓이며, 국가 내부에서 자유의 가치를 포기할 때 체제 몰락은 순식간에 찾아온다.

                    지금 당장 허울뿐인 대북 유화책을 폐기하고 한미동맹과 방첩망을 원상 복구해야 한다. 시장을 파괴하고 국민의 자유를 옥죄는 독소 입법 조항들을 즉각 철회하라. 대한민국이 자유민주주의의 이름으로 바로 서느냐, 아니면 공산·사회주의의 그늘 아래 무너지느냐의 갈림길에 서 있다. 국민적 경각심을 하나로 모아 헌법적 가치와 대한민국의 정체성을 수호하기 위해 단호히 일어나야 할 때다.

                    Today, the Republic of Korea stands before an unprecedented crisis that evokes the tragic historical scars from just before the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950. The foundations of national security that guarantee the country's survival are shaking to their core, while liberal democracy and the market economy—the pillars supporting the lives of our citizens—are rapidly collapsing under relentless overreach.

 

De-escalation of Security Brought by Begging for Peace, and Cracks in the Alliance

                    Under the specious pretext of "peace," frontline readiness has been neutralized, and counterintelligence—the vital stronghold for counterespionage operations and safeguarding state secrets—is undergoing dismantling, effectively disarming the nation. While North Korea fortifies roads near the 38th parallel and advances its high-tech weapon systems and aerospace technology through closer ties with Russia, the military leadership has reached a state where it cannot even utter the obvious term, "main enemy."

                    Even more severe are the cracks in the ROK-US alliance, the core axis of South Korean security. Irresponsible remarks by officials led to an unprecedented situation where critical intelligence sharing on North Korea with our top ally was cut off, yet the current administration continues to blind and deafen the public with hollow phrases about "elevating the alliance." As junior and mid-level officers—the backbone of the military—leave their units in succession and mental readiness is dismantled, carrying on this path will inevitably leave the nation helpless against a surprise enemy provocation.

 

Market Destruction and Deprivation of Freedom of Residence and Movement

                    The security crisis directly leads to a crisis of the regime itself. Legislation and policies churned out by the government wear the mask of fairness and reform, but in reality, they are nothing more than unconstitutional abuses of power that penalize individual freedom and property rights.

                    Harsh loan regulations and transaction restrictions introduced under the guise of normalizing the real estate market have thoroughly destroyed the "freedom of residence and movement"—the freedom for citizens to live where they desire. A bizarre control-oriented society has become reality, where even actual residents must obtain government permission to buy a house and move. Thousands of companies unable to endure misplaced taxation and regulatory bombs have left South Korea over the past two years, and as the Korean Won plummets, the fundamental vitality of the national economy is being depleted.

                    What sparks even greater outrage is the neutralization of the rule of law and the separation of powers. The legislature pressures the executive branch, destroys the independence of the judiciary, and shows no hesitation in enforcing a legal dictatorship that crushes opposition forces unacceptable to the regime. Even the press, which ought to check power, has degraded into a mouthpiece for the regime, conveying only lies and biased information.

                    South Korea is following the exact footsteps of Hong Kong, where freedom and the rule of law were gradually eroded under control. If we stand by while communist and socialist control policies are codified into law, the future of a free Republic of Korea to hand down to our children will vanish.

 

Beyond Awareness: Towards Decisive Action to Protect the System

                    History proves this truth: peace unsupported by strong power and a thorough defense posture is false, and when the value of freedom is abandoned from within, the collapse of the system arrives in an instant.

                    We must immediately discard hollow appeasement policies toward North Korea and restore the ROK-US alliance and counterintelligence networks to their original state. Revoke at once the poisonous legislative clauses that destroy the market and restrict the people's freedom. The Republic of Korea stands at a crossroads: whether to stand tall in the name of liberal democracy or to collapse under the shadow of communism and socialism. It is time to unite national awareness and stand up resolutely to defend our constitutional values and the identity of the Republic of Korea.
