Proof and Evidence of God
We often pride ourselves on living in an era of science, reason, and rationality. When we speak of an invisible spiritual faith, the world frequently throws scoffing questions at us, as if they have been waiting for the opportunity: “Prove God to me right now. If you present Him before my eyes like a 100% certain mathematical formula or a laboratory result, I will believe instantly.” They carry themselves with a confident attitude, as if they are rational beings who live exclusively upon facts that have been perfectly and scientifically proven. However, such a demand is either a spiritual arrogance disguised as rationality, or a childish ignorance that fails to understand the true weight of the word 'proof.'
As thinking human beings, we must soberly ask ourselves: Are we truly building our lives upon the flawless ‘proof’ that we so desperately crave? Absolutely not. No one goes to bed at night having perfectly proven that they will safely open their eyes tomorrow morning. When we drink milk bought from the supermarket, we drink it naturally, trusting past experiences and common-sense judgment; no one quenches their thirst only after verifying at a laboratory level, at every single moment, that it contains no poison or fatal viruses. Even love and trust, the most noble values human beings can share, cannot be proven through a formula. If we define ‘Proof’ strictly as a state of absolute flawlessness where the possibility of any opposing claim is entirely excluded, then humans cannot prove anything in any area of life. Human beings do not live by perfect proof; rather, we look at the accumulated, rational ‘Evidence,’ and we move forward, making critical life choices along the direction that evidence points.
Where, then, is the rational evidence that God exists? If we raise our heads and look at the world honestly, that evidence is already overflowing all around us.
First, the exquisite order and flawless design of the entire universe powerfully point to the mind and divinity of an intelligent Creator. To claim that the vast universe could possess such precise laws out of chaos and randomness requires far greater blind faith than believing that an explosion in a printing press accidentally completed a perfect volume of an encyclopedia.
Second, the unchanging, absolute moral standard and conscience deeply embedded within the human heart, transcending cultures and eras, testify to the existence of a good Lawgiver.
Third, the origin of life, which has never once arisen spontaneously from non-living matter, demonstrates that life can only begin from Him who is the ultimate Source of life. All scientific observation and experience only support the law that life comes exclusively from life.
Fourth, and most powerfully, the evidence is found in human ‘free will’ and the ‘soul.’ If there is no God, humans are merely the products of protein and evolution—nothing more than a mass of mechanical, biochemical reactions. Tomorrow's behavior would simply be the result of yesterday's chemical accumulation, and the freedom to choose between good and evil would not exist for us. Yet, every night, we reflect on and critique our own actions. We repent for being rude, encourage ourselves for having been patient, and resolve how to live tomorrow. The fact that we possess a self-aware ego that transcends biochemical limitations and is capable of self-reflection and choice is already clear evidence of God, who formed us as beings beyond the mere physical.
The world does not refuse to believe because there is a lack of evidence. Rather, they are unwilling to face the evidence already filling their vision, using it as an excuse to run away by demanding a level of ‘proof’ that humans can never reach.
And the greatness of Christianity lies in the fact that, moving beyond all these philosophical and natural evidences, it has ultimately engraved the most certain and concrete proof upon the stage of actual human history—a mark that can never be erased. God is not an abstract concept existing only within the intellectual play or hypotheses of humans, hiding behind the distant universe. He broke through time and space, put on a human body just like ours, and walked into history. That Person is Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is by no means a myth or a fictional character created by human weakness. He is a historical figure who actually existed on this earth, serving as the very standard of history that divides human history into Before Christ (BC) and Anno Domini (AD). The existence of the Lord is a flawless historical fact, clearly confirmed even in numerous secular historical records of the time, such as the writings of the Roman politician Tacitus and the Jewish historian Josephus.
On that stage of actual existence, the trajectory of life Jesus Christ showed, the words He proclaimed, and His way of love—where He loved and forgave even the enemies who sought to kill Him as He died on the cross—completely surpassed human capacity. Above all, the event of His resurrection, where He broke the power of death and emptied the tomb on the third day just as the Scriptures predicted, is an undeniable actual fact testified to by history. Through this historical event, having come in the flesh and broken the law of death that humanity fears most, Jesus Christ declared to the whole world that He is not merely a virtuous sage, but the true God who created and rules the entire universe.
At the same time, He is the unique Savior who rescued humanity, which was bound in despair under the chains of sin and the shadow of eternal destruction. The Lord personally came into human suffering and history to complete the path of salvation. Therefore, we no longer have the luxury of hiding behind the curtain of skepticism, cynically asking to be shown a proof of the invisible God. We must honestly face the powerful and undeniable evidence of the historical reality that is Jesus Christ, who left the clearest footprints in human history. When we bow before that solemn evidence and open the doors of our hearts, we will finally enjoy the joy of eternal life, encountering Jesus Christ—the true God and Savior who created us, shed His blood for us, and lives today to guide us.
